11/14/2008 - All South Kids Tournament. On November 1st, 2008, JKA of Ponchatoula in Lousiana hosted an annual open tournament, All South Kids Karate Championships. There were 90 competitors from 5 different states, and everyone competed under great spirit and respect. The tournamnet results are posted here. JKA of Ponchatoula greatly thanks everyone who supported the tournament.

University of South Alabama Camp, 2008, Report -- The University of South Alabama hosted its annual training camp and College Championships October 24 through October 26. The featured instructor, Mikami Sensei, took the participants through four vigorous training sessions that touched on every part of the Shotokan curriculum. Thanks to the instructors and students of the USA Karate Club for hosting this event and running a smooth tournament. The next event scheduled for the region is the end of the year training on December 13, 2008. It is very important that every club in the JKA/AF send at least one representative to the training and meeting or contact maria at maria@jkaaf.org to submit a written proxy.

MOBILE CAMP. The University of South Alabama is hosting its annual Karate camp on Friday October 24 through Sunday October 26. The annual College Tournament is also going to be held onf Saturday October 25 at the camp. There is more information available here. Please make every effort to attend this important camp.

YOUTH TOURNAMENT. The All South Karate Federation Youth tournament is currently scheduled to take place on Saturday, September 27, 2008 at 10:00 am in Ponchatoula, Louisiana. You can find more information on the tournament here. The LKA is back to normal operations after the hurricane evacuation.

HAMMOND CAMP. The ASKF Summer Camp (May 31 - June 2, 2008) will be in Hammond, our guest instructor will be Master Taniyama Takyua a JKA Sixth Dan. Mr. Taniyama is not only a JKA instructor but also a very talented competitor. A brochure of the camp can be found at this link. Since 1992 he holds 18 titles both in kata and kumite (from 1st to 3rd places). He is the current 1st place title holder in kumite for the 50th All Japan Karate Championship in 2007. In 2002, 2001 and 1998 he was the tournament Grand Champion. This is a great opportunity for all of us to experience training under Mr. Taniyama to broaden our karate knowledge. Please make every effort to attend this important camp.

44TH ANNUAL ALL SOUTH KARATE CHAMPIONSHIPS. Will be held Saturday, April 5, 2008, at 12:00 noon at the University of New Orleans Health & P. E. Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. It is located on the corner of Leon C. Simon Drive and Elysian Fields Avenue. Entry Fee is $35 for Kumite or Kata and $45 for both events. Spectators admissions is $6 for adults and $4 for children. Presented by T. Mikami, tournament director, and the All South Karated Federation. Hosted by the Louisiana Karate Association, 706C Phosphor Avenue, Metairie, LA 70005. For more information, please call (504) 835-6825. This is a qualifier tournament for the national championships in Tampa Bay, Florida in October.

BANQUET DINNER. There will be a banquet celebration after the tournament at the Five Happiness Banquet Room at 3605 Carrolton Avenue, New Orleans, LA . The costs is only $20 per person.
